Current Infatuation

I can't even remember if I've used that as a posting title before. At any rate, the internets did not append a number on the end, so perhaps I haven't?

And we are talking about photographic infatuation here. What were you expecting? :-P

Nope, this is just color images converted to black and white. There are dozens, if not thousands of ways to do this and I have not explored them all. I have managed to keep track of the ones I like and secret them away. It might be simpler if I had a dedicated monochrome camera, but those are outrageously expensive. (Leica and medium format digital)

Anyway, here is the process I would normally use:

At The Dawes ArboretumValerie GAt The Dawes Arboretum I think this one is more faithful to some of the films I used back in the day.  It's astounding how much more shadow detail modern film (what's left of it) and digital can capture.

I never thought I would get to the point in my digital era where I would be looking to remove source material from an image.

But there you have it.

Two things to note here . . . I may tire of it sooner rather than later, and I haven't as yet tried this recipe on a landscape image.

But I like it enough to add another image to the post just because I find them so visually appealing right now.
