Always with the new equipment

OMG, it's a new camera! (linkage)

Hmm. If the internets are any indication, half of the Canon shooters (canonites?) are already hating on this thing.

We are living in a renaissance of digital photographic technology that seems to have eclipsed the ability of most camera owners. Yet they still complain.

Try shooting an F1 race or a boxing match on film with manual focus. Or some theater on 1600 film that you know may have to be pushed two stops in processing.

Today's equipment makes the process dead simple, yet so many want to find fault with the hardware. Is that what we've reduced ourselves to? There are things that modern digital SLRs can do that just astound me. Frame rates, insanely fast autofocus, the ability to make an image in light so dim the camera resolves better than your eye.

Of course, I'm always forgetting that the largest portion of these complaining shooters never shot film. And wouldn't know these things. But even if you've only been using interchangeable lens cameras for two or three years, you can't have escaped the rapid pace of the technology. I mean Fujifilm just turned out a new version of a lens that has only existed since February.

So maybe my rant is still valid. Stop bitching about the gear, learn to use it and use it to your advantage.
